Service: Arroyo Grande Community Hospital
While I may not have the names of everyone that has helped me on our thankfully few visits, I can say that this entire hospital and it's staff has grown and evolved with our community. I truly appreciate that we have this facility and it's caring staff so close at hand.
After returning to the Central Coast as an adult, I was first re-acquainted with Arroyo Grande Community Hospital -- a Catholic Healthcare West Hospital -- when my husband came down with a severe stomach illness nine years ago. Restaurant: Zorro's Cafe & Cantina
Nestled in the heart of Shell Beach, right on Shell Beach Road, you might drive by any day of the week and see a line on the sidewalk for this popular cafe. Originally just open for breakfast and lunch, they now serve dinner ... which is always a great place to find yourself on a Saturday afternoon after a walk though town, some play time at Dinosaur Caves Park or maybe even on a return from a trip down the Bob Jones Trail. Occupying a corner spot, there is a tiny indoor dining room with picture windows looking out to the patio that wraps in an "L" around the building. Community Service: Rotary Youth Soccer Tournament
The Pismo Beach / Five Cities Rotary Club organizes a middle school soccer tournament held at Mesa Middle School. This year over 200 children and families participated in an all day tournament. FINALLY! A competent, friendly and centrally located alterations expert in the Five Cities!! Nina Taylor (fittingly named, if you ask me!) is a fantastic asset to our community, having opened her cute and cozy shop in 2010.
